App for Android 6 or newer, plus server and text receiver for Windows. Free, no account, no ads.
- One big button: record, pause, and stop sends it off.
- Speech recognition runs with Whisper on your own computer – long dictations, technical terms and names included.
- Target “PC clipboard”: at your desk, just press Ctrl+V.
- No network? The recording waits in the outbox and is sent automatically.
The app itself is in German; the buttons are self-explanatory.
How the text gets to your PC
Three stations, all inside your own network. No outside service is listening.
- 1
Phone records
Press the button, speak, stop. The app stores the recording and sends it to your Diktat server.
- 2
Your computer transcribes
The Diktat server runs on a Windows PC or server of yours and turns the recording into text with Whisper.
- 3
The text is there
The text lands in your PC’s clipboard – or arrives by email. You choose the target in the app.
What Diktat does
- One button, big targets
- Record and stop on one big button, pause and resume below it. Time and level meter show that the microphone hears you. Optionally recording starts as soon as you open the app.
- Whisper on your computer
- Recognition uses whisper.cpp with the large-v3-turbo model – with punctuation, even for long recordings. How fast depends on your computer. Set to German by default; the language is one setting on the server.
- Straight to the clipboard
- The small text receiver runs on your PC. The server sends it the finished text, and you paste it into any program with Ctrl+V. Several PCs are possible, for example “office” and “home”.
- Or by email
- The server emails the text to the address set in the app. The subject shows date, time and the first words. If something fails, the recording comes as an attachment.
- Nothing gets lost
- Every recording stays on the phone until the server has confirmed it. If the PC is off, the server holds the text for up to 24 hours and delivers it later.
- Runs in the background
- Recording continues when the screen turns off or you switch apps. Pause and resume continue the same recording.
- Record without network
- Out of Wi-Fi range? You can still record. As soon as the server is reachable, the app sends everything by itself.
- Windows tablets too
- A separate recording program for Windows tablets sends to the same server. It comes with the server package (target: email).
Your voice stays in your network
Most dictation features send the recording to Google or Apple. Diktat does not.
- Your own server: the recording only goes to the computer you enter in the app.
- No account, no cloud: there is no sign-up and no server of mine in between.
- Shared secret: without the token from your configuration the server accepts nothing.
- No tracking, no ads – neither in the app nor on this site.
Set up in three steps
Set it up once, then just speak. The detailed guide (in German) comes with the server package as README.md.
Set up the Diktat server
On a Windows PC or Windows server that stays on: unpack the server package, add whisper.cpp and the Whisper model (about 550 MB), and set a token in
diktat-server.ini. Runs as a Windows service.Text receiver on the PC
On the PC where the text should arrive, start the text receiver. It shows its address and token – both go, with a name, into the
[pcs]section of the server configuration. Email only? Skip this step.Set up the app
Install the app, enter server address and token under Einstellungen (settings), tap Verbindung testen (test connection). Then choose “PC-Zwischenablage” and the PC name – done.
Important: the connection inside the network is not encrypted. Diktat is meant for your own network; from outside only via VPN – never open the port to the internet.
Download

Install the app
- Open this page on your phone and download the app.
- Open the file diktat.apk, via the notification or the “Downloads” folder.

- If Google Play Protect reports an unknown app: Install anyway.
- Allow the microphone on your first dictation.
Updates simply install over the existing version. Settings and outbox are kept.
Windows may warn on the first start of the server or text receiver (“Windows protected your PC”) because the programs are not signed: More info → Run anyway.
