2. This website

When you visit this site, the web server stores technically necessary data (IP address, time, requested file, browser identifier) in log files to ensure operation and security (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). The logs are deleted after a short time. A cookie named “sprache” remembers the language you chose (one year); without your choice the site follows your browser language. There is no tracking and no third-party services – the fonts are hosted on this server too.

3. The app: your data stays on your phone

FairCompass stores trade fairs, suppliers, products, prices, notes and photos only on your device. There is no account, no cloud, no advertising and no analytics. Your trade fair data is never transferred to me. The app only talks to the server in the two cases below.

3a. Update check

With internet access the app checks the file download/version.json on this website at most every six hours and, if you wish, downloads the new version. Only the usual server logs are created (IP address, time, app version in the user agent), see section 2.

3b. Full version (licence)

When you unlock the full version, the app sends the licence code, a random ID of this app installation (not linked to device numbers or accounts) and the device type (e.g. “Google Pixel 8”) to the licence server on this website. These are stored with the time of the first and last check so that a code runs on at most three devices and you can switch devices. About every two weeks the app checks the licence again when online. Wrong codes are counted for one hour using a hash of the IP address to prevent guessing. Legal basis is the performance of the purchase contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).

For an order I process your name, email and billing address to handle the purchase, and keep invoices for ten years because of tax law (Art. 6(1)(b) and (c) GDPR). If you pay via PayPal, PayPal’s privacy policy also applies.

4. Permissions and phone services

5. Sharing, backup and passing on

When you share a report (PDF, Excel list, ZIP), a backup or a trade fair package with colleagues, you decide to whom and via which app (e.g. email, WhatsApp, Google Drive). These files contain the recorded data including photos, voice notes and contact details from business cards. The terms of the chosen app apply to the transfer.

6. Your rights

You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection, and to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. Your trade fair data is stored only on your device; you delete it by deleting it in the app or uninstalling the app. For information about stored licence and order data, please email me.
